The objects of this Association are: The furtherance of the best interests of the Firemen's Relief Associations of this State which are or may become members of this Association so that the funds of the said relief Associations may be protected and the best results for the benefit of aged and needy active and/or otherwise qualified fire persons and their families, and those injured, incapacitated or killed in the performance of their duty, may be achieved; the protection against the encroachment upon the source of said funds, the advancement of the status and best interest of all fire persons, the development and advancement of the best methods of fire protection and the cultivation of fraternal fellowship among the various departments and fire persons throughout the State and elsewhere.

SCHEDULED COUNTY WORKSHOPS

Atlantic & Cape May Counties will be hosting a combined County Workshop on Thursday, April 4, at the Ocean City Library, 1735 Simpson Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226.  Registration will be from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm with the Workshop starting at 6:00 pm.

Warren County will be hosting a County Workshop on Thursday, May 2, at the Goodwill Fire Company, 689 Water Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823.  Registration will be from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the Workshop starting at 7:00 pm.

 

SCHEDULED LOCAL FIELD EXAMS

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Camden County on Tuesday, April 2nd, at the East Pennsauken Fire Station 1, 8362 Stockton Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ 08109.  The 17 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Audubon, Barrington, Bellmawr, Berlin Boro, Berlin Township, Brooklawn, Cherry Hill, Clementon, Gloucester City, Gloucester Township, Haddon Heights, Lawnside, Lindenwold, Mt. Ephraim, Pine Hill, Somerdale, Stratford.

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Hudson County on Tuesday, April 9th, at the Secaucus Fire Department, 272 County Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094.  All 12 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Bayonne, East Newark, Guttenberg, Harrison, Hoboken, Jersey City, Kearny, North Bergen, Secaucus, Union City, Weehawken, West New York.

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Middlesex County on Tuesday, April 16th, at the Avenel Fire Department, 346 Avenel Street, Avenel, NJ 07001.  The 14 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Avenel, Carteret, Edison, Helmetta, Highland Park, Jamesburg, Old Bridge, Perth Amboy, Piscataway, Sayreville, South Plainfield, South River, Spotswood, Woodbridge.

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Atlantic County on Tuesday, April 23rd, at the Egg Harbor City Fire Department, 631 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.  All 22 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Absecon, Atlantic City, Borough of Buena, Brigantine, Buena Vista, Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Estell Manor, Folsom, Galloway, Hammonton, Linwood, Longport, Margate City, Mullica, Northfield, Pleasantville, Port Republic, Somers Point, Township of Hamilton, Ventnor City, Weymouth Township.  

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Ocean County on Tuesday, April 30th, at the Stafford Fire Department, 133 Stafford Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.  The 15 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Barnegat, Beach haven, Beachwood, Berkeley Township, Eagleswood, Harvey Cedars, Lakehurst, Little Egg Harbor, Ocean Gate, Pine Beach, Ship Bottom, Stafford, Surf City, Township of Ocean, Tuckerton.

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Bergen County on Tuesday, May 7th, at the Rutherford Fire Department, 40 Ames Avenue, Rutherford, NJ 07070.  All 17 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Carlstadt, Cliffside Park, East Rutherford, Fairview, Garfield, Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, Lyndhurst, Moonachie, North Arlington, Palisades Park, Ridgefield, Ridgefield Park, Rutherford, South Hackensack, Wallington, Wood-Ridge.

 

A Field Exam has been scheduled for Somerset County on Tuesday, May 14th, at the Bradley Gardens Firehouse, 24 Old York Road, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.  All 20 Associations scheduled for this year will be notified by mail as to what time to arrive.  Bedminster, Bernards Township, Bernardsville Borough, Bound Brook, Branchburg Township, Bridgewater, Township, Far Hills, Franklin, Green Brook, Hillsborough, Manville, Montgomery, North Plainfield, Peapack Valley, Raritan, Rocky Hill, Somerville, South Bound Brook, Warren, Watchung.

 

GENERAL NEWS

  1. The Annual Financial Standing Reports, Form ’#s 200 & 200A were due by February 20th (21st).  Statewide, 100% were received on time.  Congratulations to the Local Treasurers.
  2. The Membership Report, Form #109 (Greensheets) was due by February 28th.  Three (3) Associations filed late and penalties will be applied.
  3. The 1st Quarter 2019 Relief Paid Report is due by April 30th and can be entered and submitted online.  The report should include checks written by your Association for Relief between January 1st and March 31st.  Do not include April payments.  If you finalize the report online, you do not have to send in a hard copy.  If the report is filed late, penalties will apply.
  4. The Relief Convention Delegates selection form #104 and the Exempt Convention Delegate selection form #105 (if applicable) are due by May 1st, and can be entered and submitted online.  If you finalize the reports online, you do not have to send in hard copies.  If the reports are filed late, penalties will apply.
  5. Resolutions for the Annual Convention must be submitted to the NJSFA office by May 1st in the year prior to the Annual Convention.  Contact your County Executive Committeeperson for information and guidance.
  6. The IRS 990 form must be filed by every Local Association with the IRS by May 15th. A copy of the filing or a copy of the notice of receipt must be received in the NJSFA office by June 14th.  If the report is filed late, penalties will apply.
  7. Petitions to run for State Office must be filed in-person at the offices of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association during NJSFA regular business hours on or before June 1st (June 3rd) in the year prior to the Annual Convention. 
  8. The latest revised versions, Rev. 1-18, of forms Applications for Local Relief (Form 101) and Applications for Supplementary Relief (Form 102) along with new guidelines should be used.  All older unused versions of the forms must be disposed of and only the new  versions should be used.  If you need additional copies of Form 101, you can print them from our website by going to the forms tab.  Additional copies of Form 102 must be requested from the State office.
  9. Special Relief Assistance is available to most members. You must apply and receive local relief assistance first.  If the additional need is there, the amount of Special Relief that you can apply for is $5,000.00 minus your local level. Once it is approved by the Advisory Committee, the Special Relief is paid out by the State Office. Contact your local Association Trustees or Secretary for additional information and for a copy of the application.
  10. The Health Care Assistance/Rehabilitation Program is available for members who need assistance from a licensed caregiver.  The program is designed to help with the expense of ongoing personal care and not for house cleaning or property maintenance type costs.  Contact your local secretary for the application form. Applications once approved by the Advisory Committee, are good for one year. The member may be receiving care at home, an adult day-care facility, a rehabilitation facility or a long term care facility. This program is a monthly reimbursement program paid out by the State Office. For more information, contact your local Secretary, Executive Committeeperson or the State Office.
